Thurmont Green Fest

Head to the Thurmont Library for a free, fun & interactive day where you can learn how to live “Greener”!
Saturday, April 13th
10am – 2pm
Thurmont Regional Library – 76 East Moser Road, Thurmont
Lots of exhibitors with a wide range of displays will be on hand with demonstrations, interactive exhibits, educational information & more! There will be electronic recycling as well.
Some of the vendors will show how to upcycle furniture, rug creation from rags and fabric scraps, beekeeping & more!
The Thurmont Green Team will raffle off a Tumble Composter and free tree saplings will be available for all who attend.
Boxcar Burgers will have their food truck at the event starting at 11am.
Fountain Rock Nature Center will have children’s nature activities and Cunningham Falls State Park’s Scales and Tales will thrill participants with live reptiles. Hear how you can support a new larger home for Edmund the Turtle. The Friends of Cunningham Falls State Park are raising funds for the new enclosure by holding Turtle Races in April. Edmund is the one of the largest known snapping turtles in the nation, and he has outgrown his current enclosure.
Clean out all those old electronics and bring them by for electronic recycling offered by the Buddy Project, which provides technology, training, and advocacy to individuals with intellectual disabilities. They will accept LCD monitors/televisions (no tube TVs please), hard drives, laptops/desktops, gaming systems, computer components, scrap metal and wire. The Rust Store of Frederick will be demonstrating how to upcycle old furniture, and Tracy Lewis will be making rag rugs out of old fabric scraps and t-shirts.
